Mummified sausages

These super cute mummified sausages are wickedly delicious and are sure to keep the little ghouls happy this Halloween.

I’m a huge fan of dress-ups and one step up from dress ups is themed food. Combine the two and I’m a very happy little camper so Halloween is a really fun celebration day in my house.

It doesn’t matter that it’s not really celebrated in Australia, and it doesn’t need to be a massive lolly-fest. With a little imagination, and a spot of effort, you have some fun spooky times and create some great ghoulish memories.
Makes 6
Difficulty: easy

  • 6 good quality sausages
  • 1 sheet of ready-made puff pastry
  • milk for basting
1. Preheat oven to 200°C.
2. Using sharp scissors cut the base of your sausage 3cms up the middle. Next, make little cuts up each side to make the arms.
3. Slice your sheet of pastry into 5cm wide strips and carefully wrap your sausages up like mummies, leaving a space for a ‘face’ before adding the hat.
4. Brush lightly with milk.
5. Pop onto a rack over a tray so the fat from the sausages can drip into the tray below and not make the pastry soggy, and then place into the oven for 30 minutes or until golden brown.
