Healthy treats for dogs

Healthy treats for your dog are easy to make and are sure to make tails wag!

We know that dogs love to eat but feeding your four-legged friend a treat every time they look cute, or you feel that overwhelming surge of love, can lead to more harm than good.  Too many treats can result in excess body weight, medical conditions and not allow your dog to lead a long, happy and healthy life.

When measuring the daily food portions for your dog, always factor in the little treats that are sure to be handed out each day. Like humans, dogs need to eat a balanced diet and enjoy daily exercise to avoid becoming overweight. Feeding low-calorie, no-sugar treats that provide a health benefit are a sure step towards positive pet care.

Healthy treats for dogs can be easy to make and you’re likely to already have the ingredients in your pantry. Try swapping the store-bought treats for a big batch of home-cooked treats, which are easy on the pocket and good for your dog. If you have extra treats, they’re guaranteed to be a big hit at the dog park too.
