Suffering from school holiday fever? Don't stress the end is nearly in sight but if you're sick of hearing the whines of ‘I’m bored’ here are five ideas to keep the kids entertained this school holiday.
But it doesn’t have to be that way. You don’t have to resort only to electronic devices or the TV to get you through; there’s lots of fun, low-tech family activities that you can use to fill the days and provide some much needed family time during this busy time of year.
1. Go ride a bike
Get back to basics, dust off those helmets and get your family riding. If you’ve already got all the gear, it’s free, and it’s an activity the whole family can get involved in – even the family dog!
2. Ten pins of fun
In the theme of getting back to basics, if you haven’t been ten pin bowling in a while, now is a good time to give it a go. Kids of all ages can join the fun and with a bit of competitive spirit, you’ll pass an afternoon in the blink of an eye. And as a bonus, check out the AMF discounts

3. Park it
Don’t go past the delights of your local park. With a bunch of other more high-tech options out there, it can be easy to forget the joys of swinging on the swings and sliding down the slides. Whether you pack a picnic and settle in for the day, or just head down for an hour to break the cabin fever.
4. Green fingers
Why not enjoy the last of the nice weather and send them outside armed with a garden trowel and water can to plant some seeds. It's a good opportunity to teach them where their food comes from.
5. Send them outside
If all else fails, quash the whining by sitting them down with some paints, paintbrushes and a large piece of paper or canvas and get them to paint a masterpiece. Or provide a bunch of brightly coloured chalk and let them have free reign on the driveway. You can supervise these activities from the comfort of the veranda, or better yet, get in on the creative fun!
